Dental Hygiene

Dental exams for our new and existing patients, with your comfort in mind

Promote your oral and general health with dental hygiene

We know going to the dentist isn’t a favourite pastime. That’s why our dental exams, and every one of your visits, are designed with your comfort in mind.

A free hand or foot massage during your appointment can make you feel relaxed, and we offer sedation options to take away any anxiety or stress you may feel. The TV above your chair can also help you tune out the sounds of the clinic.

And don’t worry: our hygienists are always gentle. They will give you the breaks you need, so you can relax your jaw and swallow.

Here’s what you can expect at your dental hygiene visit. We will …

  • Closely examine your teeth and gums for issues
  • Use a hand scaler and/or ultrasonic scaler to loosen plaque buildup on your teeth
  • Gently brush and floss your teeth
  • Polish your teeth and use a fluoride treatment to strengthen them against decay
  • Discuss the optional use of laser gum contouring or laser therapy to keep your gum line free of dead tissue, prevent “pocketing”, and battle cold sores

We’ll also answer any questions you may have about your dental health, so you’re completely informed about how best to care for your smile!

Routinely visiting the dentist will help you stay healthy!

Plaque buildup is unavoidable, regardless of how well you maintain your teeth at home, so it’s very important to visit the dentist for regular cleaning and examination.

We commonly recommend visiting once every 6 months to maintain optimal care, but some patients schedule 3, 4, 9 or 12 month recall appointments depending on their cleaning habits, buildup, and insurance coverage.

Proper oral hygiene not only protects against gum disease and cavities, but can also reduce the risk of related chronic health problems like diabetes and heart disease.  With regular visits we can discover potential problems and help in preventing these issues.

Our hygienists are personable, experienced and accommodating

Our dental hygienists are highly trained and have over 100 years of combined experience!

We know that every person’s needs are unique, so you can be sure that your experience will be personalized to your specific needs and concerns. We ensure this by spending time listening to you and answering your questions.

If your whole family would like to coordinate visits, we can help!  With several hygienists working at the same time, we’d be happy to care for each family member concurrently, requiring only one time slot for all of you.
