Crowns & Bridges

In dentistry - crowns or bridges are restorations fabricated to replace teeth that have been damaged, decayed or lost. A crown can be made to restore an individual tooth damaged by decay or fracture back to it's original form and function, while a bridge is used to replace one or more missting teeth.

Crowns become necessary when there is insufficient tooth structure to support a filling. Teeth that are severely broken down from decay or fractured from amalgam (mercury) can be fully restored to proper appearance and function with a crown restoration.
A Bridge is a single appliance that is generally attached to two teeth on each side of the space where a tooth is missing. An artificial tooth attached in the middle of the bridge fills in the gap where the missing tooth was.
